Pako Salad or Ensaladang Pako (Fiddlehead Fern Salad) Recipe
Pako salad, also known as ensaladang pako, which is among Filipino's most loved salads is usually prepared using fresh tomatoes and onions that add flavor to the vegetable fern's distinct taste.

Recipe Ingredients:
- 2 tali of pako
- 2-3 medium tomatoes (sliced)
- 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
- salt and pepper
- sugar (optional)
- slices of lime or lemon
Recipe Instructions:
1. Clean your veggies:
- Before you start, ensure that your vegetables are thoroughly washed. You can soak the ferns in cold water before washing them. If you want to ensure they are clean, you can blanch the pako in boiling water before placing them in cold water.
2. Add toppings:
- Add tomatoes, onions as well your favorite toppings for additional flavor.
3. Add vinaigrette:
- Then dress it up with vinegar, olive oil, lemon juice or calamansi (Philippine lime), sugar, salt and black pepper to give it that tangy and sweet taste.
